~ Are there any, really? :) Of course there are, otherwise I wouldn't be doing it. Although it's hard work (at least for me, since I'm not inherently talented) and it can be hard to carve out time enough to do it with the vagaries of Life hounding me at every step, I find it gratifying - and yes, Fun, most of the time. I have to admit, though, it's the most fun when I finally get to type THE END. :)
~ What's even more fun is when I get glowing reviews from my readers. They make me feel like I'm doing something good and making some kind of contribution toward a better world, or something like that. And the less-than-glowing ones, though disappointing, are often at least helpful in showing me ways I might be able to improve.
~ I recently received a comment that stood out to the point that I think it's deserving of mention here. One of my readers said, "Thank you for bringing the joy of reading back into someone's life." I can't imagine a nicer compliment, and it really made my day when I saw that. I'm not a teacher, but now I think I know what teachers mean when they say connecting with just one kid in that way can make it all worthwhile.
~ Well, back to the writing cave. I'm still trying to catch up on THE PORT FEE so I can publish it "in the spring" as I promised. Technically, that gives me until the summer solstice in June, but I don't want to make everyone wait that long. So it's back to that long and crooked path for me, until next time...
